Grotto

3/20/10
Grotto in Beacon Hill for Restaurant Week.
Extensive menu because they offer their entire menu for restaurant week. Nice and cozy place. A bit dark, and it's hard to find if you didn't know of the restaurant, but nice restaurant overall.

Bread: a bit dried white bread with spicy olive oil.

Primi:
Insalata. Baby arugula, parma prosciutto, reggiano parmesan, Lemon.
The Lemon flavor dominated the salad and it was a bit too much for me. Not much prosciutto offered. The parmesan slices were delicious.
Carroza. Pan toasted buffalo mozarella, baby spinach, black olives, small tomatoes, capers.
The salad was warm and nice, and I liked their black olives. The buffalo mozarella was in between bread and the portion of the mozarella was very small.

Secondi:
Carne. Grilled beef tenderloin, reggiano risotto, asparagus, red wine sauce
The medium done beef was good. a bit dry, but the red wine sauce definitely helped. The risotto was great. a bit of salt would have helped bring out the overall flavor.
Zafferano. Crab ravioli, asparagus, almonds, saffron
The ravioli tasted delicious with very crabby flavor. I didn't get to taste the almond part of it, though.

Dolce:
Cioccolato. Melting chooclate cake and vanilla ice cream
The melting choc cake and ice cream were both HUUUGE. the chocolate cake was definitely too sweet, but having the ice cream helped. The ice cream could be a little better, though. It was very milky.
Budino. Banana bread pudding, carmel ice cream, walnuts.
Had the ice cream changed to vanilla My boyfriend enjoyed the bread pudding, though!

The portion was HUGE except for the ravioli. Other dishes like their Spaghetti Meatballs and Grotto's insanely fabulous tomato sauce had so much, but the person eating it didn't seem to have enjoyed the herby meatballs and there was a lot of spaghetti left on his plate.
